FOOD & BEVERAGES

Quiet Valley Homecoming is a largely BYO food and beverage weekend, so campers should plan to bring what they need for their stay.

We will have one food vendor on site during the weekend, and there will also be a few special food events along the way, including:

• Thursday evening: Burgers and hot dogs at Polekat’s birthday party
• Saturday: The Quiet Valley Homecoming Chili Cookoff, with public tasting in the afternoon

Outside of those offerings, campers are encouraged to bring their own food and camp cooking supplies. Whether your setup consists of a cooler and a camp stove or a full-blown campground kitchen worthy of its own zip code, come prepared to feed yourself for the weekend.

Quiet Valley Homecoming is BYOB. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will not be available for purchase on site, so please bring your own beverages and drink responsibly.

Ice will be available for purchase from the self-service machine at the Kerrtry Store.

As always, we encourage everyone to help us reduce waste by bringing reusable cups, plates, utensils, and water bottles whenever possible.

TOILETS / SHOWERS / WATER 

Restrooms and showers will be available in the campground during Quiet Valley Homecoming, although not all Festival-season facilities may be open for the weekend. The number of facilities in service will be based on expected attendance.

Potable water on the Ranch is provided by Aqua and is treated and approved by the County Health Department. Several free-standing water spigots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Water is free, but if you plan to leave a hose connected to a spigot, please use a hose splitter with an open connection so other campers can still access the water.

Drinking-water filling stations will be available at Ranch Central, the Kerrtry Store, and Threadgill Theater, with additional stations placed around the campground as needed.

Many campers also choose to bring their own drinking water for convenience.

ELECTRICITY

Basic electrical access is included with your Quiet Valley Homecoming admission, and no separate electric permit is required.

If you are using a 30-amp connection or running an air conditioner, we ask that you stop by the office during posted hours and make a $20 donation for the weekend to help offset the additional electrical cost.

Electrical access is still limited by the number and capacity of available outlets, so campers should come prepared to share access where necessary and avoid overloading circuits.

CAMPFIRES

Fire extinguishers are available at all safety stations and major buildings around the ranch. Open fires should be within fire rings, bbq grills or outdoor type fireplaces. LARGE BONFIRES ARE NOT ALLOWED. Fires are not allowed during periods of excessive drought or when Kerr County has issued a county wide burn ban. During a burn ban, only charcoal fires in bbq grills are allowed.

Gathering firewood on the property is not permitted.  A limited amount of firewood is available near the campground showers. If you think you need a lot of wood, please bring your own. Do not burn fires under trees, branches or next to wooden structures. Fires MUST be attended at all times and must be completely extinguished before retiring for the night or leaving the campsite. Please share fires when possible.

As an extra safety precaution, the Foundation supplies (red) water buckets and burlap just outside the main campground showers for use next to campfires. When a burn ban is not in effect, please collect a red bucket, fill it with water and soak the burlap in an area near your campfire. Should a spark land outside the fire ring use said burlap to snuff it out.

TENT CAMPING

Tent camping at Quiet Valley Ranch offers a relaxed, communal experience in a beautiful Hill Country setting. The campground is more rustic than a traditional state park, but comfortable and enjoyable for campers who come prepared.

Reservations are not required for tent camping. Upon arrival, you’re welcome to choose an open area of the campground that feels like a good fit and set up camp. Please be considerate of neighboring campsites, pathways, roadways, and shared spaces when choosing your spot.

The terrain is classic Texas Hill Country, so sturdy outdoor shoes and practical clothing are recommended. October weather can vary considerably, so come prepared for warm afternoons, cool nights, rain, or whatever Texas decides to throw at us that weekend.

If you plan to bring a shade canopy, please secure it properly. Winds can pick up quickly, and all canopies, tents, and loose items should be well staked and tied down for everyone’s safety.

RV SITES

RV camping is available during Quiet Valley Homecoming for a $20 site fee for the entire weekend, in addition to admission for each person staying at the site.

RV sites are assigned in advance. Kerrville Folk Festival first right of refusal does not apply to Quiet Valley Homecoming RV reservations, but we will do our best to accommodate returning site holders and site preferences whenever possible.

To request an RV site, simply join the free RV waitlist on the ticketing site. We currently have plenty of RV sites available; the waitlist allows us to assign and release sites in an orderly fashion rather than opening all RV sites for direct purchase at once.

Sites throughout Quiet Valley Ranch offer a variety of hookups, including full-hookup sites and water/electric sites. Specific site amenities will depend on the site assigned.

If your RV is currently stored at Quiet Valley Ranch, your site will not be reassigned regardless of whether you plan to attend Quiet Valley Homecoming.

Pets are not permitted in the main campground. Campers assigned to the Lamb Creek RV area may keep pets inside their air-conditioned RV in accordance with the KFFF Lamb Creek RV Park Pet Policy.

PARKING & Vehicles

Vehicle parking is included with Quiet Valley Homecoming admission, and we are not planning to charge an additional fee for parking vehicles in the campground during the weekend.

Campers may unload, load, and park near their campsites where space allows. We simply ask everyone to park thoughtfully and help protect the Ranch while keeping the campground safe and accessible.

Please do not:

• Park on or over tree root systems
• Park in fire lanes
• Block campground roads
• Block access to other vehicles or campsites
• Park in a way that interferes with emergency or service vehicle access

Parking vehicles over tree roots compacts the soil and can seriously damage the trees, so please give them plenty of room when choosing a parking spot.

If you are sleeping in a van, truck, trailer, pop-up, or other vehicle, no separate Sleeper Vehicle Permit is required for Quiet Valley Homecoming.

General parking areas will also be available for anyone who prefers to leave their vehicle outside the main camping area.
