REMEMBERING VERN CRAWFORD, A FRIEND TO ALL

In honor of Vern Crawford, and in the spirit of the generosity he showed so freely, his family invites you to make a donation to the Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation in lieu of flowers.

Vern was, in so many ways, the best of us. He believed deeply in this Festival and in the people who call it home, and he gave of himself to help it grow, endure, and welcome others in.

A gift made in his name helps carry that spirit forward, supporting the music, the community, and the traditions he cared for so deeply.

In this way, Vern’s legacy continues… in every song, every hand, and every “Welcome Home” you hear as you pull into the gate.

Honoring the memory of lee green, and his service to the festival

In honor of Lee Green, his loved ones invite you to make a donation to the Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation in lieu of flowers.

Lee was there at the very beginning—our original volunteer—and for nearly four decades, he embodied the spirit that continues to guide this community. A mentor, a steady hand, and a friend, Lee showed us what it means to give of yourself fully and joyfully.

He believed that a festival could be something more… a place where “uncommon service becomes a natural extension of ourselves,” where we care for one another as reflections of the same shared spirit.

A gift made in Lee’s name helps carry that vision forward, supporting the volunteers, the music, and the community he helped build from the ground up.

We will gather to honor Lee’s life during this year’s Festival, and will share memorial details here as they are finalized.

In Loving Memory of Mary Muse

It is with profound sadness that we share the news that Mary Muse, the former Executive Director of the Kerrville Folk Festival, passed away on January 23rd at 6:30pm from complications of breast cancer.

Her beloved husband, Bill Muse, whom she met at the festival in 1992, was at her side. Over the past few weeks, Mary has been surrounded by a near-constant stream of friends, loved ones, and music.

Mary was the first Executive Director of Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation and served for 8 years, during which time she navigated the challenges of the Covid pandemic and ensured the survival of our beloved Festival. Her passion for music, her capacity to hold a loving space for all she encountered, and her commitment to and love for the Festival was unsurpassed. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Welcome Home, Mary

In Love and Service,

Celebration of Life for Mary Muse
Saturday, April 11, 2026 | 2:00–4:00 PM
Threadgill Theater, Quiet Valley Ranch

This gathering will be a time to remember Mary together, to share stories, music, and gratitude, and to honor the indelible mark she left on the Festival and all who call it home. The service will be followed by a reception with light refreshments provided.

What to Wear
Quiet Valley Ranch is a beautiful and rustic outdoor setting. Casual, comfortable attire is encouraged, and we recommend wearing sturdy, comfortable shoes suitable for uneven ground.

Camping on the Ranch
Guests are welcome to camp on Quiet Valley Ranch on:
Friday, April 10
Saturday, April 11
We kindly ask that all guests depart the Ranch before dark on Sunday, April 12.

For those bringing an RV, there is a suggested donation of $20 per night to help offset the cost of water and electricity. This donation is appreciated but not required.

RSVP
To help us prepare the Ranch and ensure we can welcome everyone comfortably, we ask that you please RSVP using the Google Form linked above.

Digital Guest Book + Livestream
As part of honoring Mary’s life, we are also creating a digital guest book. If there is a memory, story, quote, or message you would like to share, we invite you to include it when you RSVP. These reflections are being compiled for Bill Muse, and some may be included in a slideshow or other memorial elements during the Celebration of Life, with permission. As we gather photos for Mary’s celebration slideshow, we invite you to share any images you’d like by emailing them to Shannon Holt at media@kerrvillefolkfestival.org.

We are also planning to livestream the service on the homepage of our website and on the Foundation’s Facebook page. If you are not planning to attend in person, but would still like to receive updates, just enter zero in the number of people in your party on the RSVP form and we will keep you in the loop.
