You probably saw this coming, but it’s now official; with very sad hearts, we will not be holding an in-person KFF in October. In March, when we re-scheduled KFF, we were hopeful that this country would find a way to return to some semblance of normalcy by October. We are hopeful still that conditions continue to improve, but now, to protect everyone, we are re-structuring the October Festival to be a virtual celebration.
Obviously, not having a KFF in May changed everything, and we have been scraping by since. Effective, Aug. 1, 2020, one of our employees has resigned and all others are taking deep pay cuts, but will continue their work as long as possible.
The KFFF Directors have donated their entire purchases back to the Festival and are hopeful that our community will do the same. They are determined to do everything in their power to keep this festival intact. Our survival is dependent on raising $200,000 between now and the end of the year.
And now, we turn to you, the KFF Community to help us. Donations have always been cherished deeply, and now more than ever. Thankfully in this time of great need, we have an extraordinary guardian angel who has agreed to match every dollar donated to KFFF between now and December 31, 2020. If you donate funds to KFFF, the value doubles toward insuring the survival of our beloved Festival.
Synchronously, we are hoping for overwhelming interest in folks becoming Members of the KFF Foundation and renewing KFFF Memberships. Not only are Foundation Membership dues tax-deductible, but Memberships directly support the continuation of the Festival and help steer the course of future KFFF activities.
We are not alone in experiencing hardship, and it is with that knowledge that we humbly make this ask of our community in this time of need.
