Matt Grigsby is a Folk/Americana artist raised in the piney woods of East Texas and currently based out of Denton, TX. Grigsby strives to write songs as intricate and introspective as his songwriting heroes Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, all while singing his songs as honestly and soulfully as his vocal heroes, Ray Charles and Otis Redding. His songs can be both humorous and tragic, covering subjects as varied as life in a small town to how good he looks in a dress, all delivered in a smooth baritone voice destined for storytelling. He is president and co founder of a music education based non-profit, the Denton Songwriters Guild, and director of the young Denton Folk Festival. “Matt Grigsby is part Robert Earle Keen, part Sam Cooke. His songs, led by intricate fingerstyle guitar, heartfelt harmonica, and some seriously powerful vocals, will absolutely cut you to the core. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll never want the show to end”.
