49th Annual Kerrville Folk Festival
October 1 - 11, 2021

9-8-21  UPDATE

As a result of the ongoing uncontrolled spread of Covid-19 in Texas and after consultation with a group with expertise in medicine and risk planning, the Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation Board has decided to limit the duration and capacity of the upcoming Kerrville Folk Festival planned for October 1-11.

The Festival will now occur on two consecutive weekends, October 1-3 and October 8-12 at Threadgill Theater in the campground. A limited number of tickets will be sold for each day.

Unfortunately, all mid-week events are cancelled. Eleven-day ticket holders will be contacted directly with an offer to a refund for the mid-weekdays.

All shows will be live streamed for those who are not able to attend in person.

As previously planned, all attendees (except for children under 12) must provide proof of being fully vaccinated to attend. Children 3+ will be asked to wear a mask outside their home camp.

This was an incredibly difficult decision for the Foundation Board. Like you, we were all looking forward to gathering with our Kerrville family and sharing the music and community that makes the Festival special to so many of us. But the health and safety of the Festival family, the town of Kerrville, and our friends and loved ones back home had to be considered. We hope and believe that we’ll be able to safely gather in larger numbers in May next year.

As we create structure around this new configuration, there are numerous adjustments we are making.  We are committed to fairness and safety as we create another magical Kerrville experience.  Inevitably, some decisions will not suit everyone, so we ask for your understanding and trust that we are doing the best we can in inordinately challenging times.  Below are some of the questions we know will arise, and there will be more.  We will stay in close communication with our ticket holders, volunteers, and artists as plans evolve.

If there are questions you would like to add to the FAQ below, please send a note to info@kerrvillefolkfestival.org and we will post updates on our website and in emails to keep you informed.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I already bought an 11-day ticket, will I get a refund?   You may receive a full refund if you choose not to attend at all, or if you want to attend the two weekends, we will refund you up to $80 for the mid-week shows that are cancelled.  (Of course, if you want to donate all or part of the $80 that would be most welcome!)

  • What about Land Rush?   The campground will open for folks to set up early on Thursday, Sept. 30th at 12:00 noon.  A fee of $10 per person will be charged for camping that evening.

  • Can I stay on the ranch between weekends?   Yes, if you already had tickets for the mid-week, and you have provided proof of vaccination. Be aware there will be very limited services available, other than trash and sanitation (bathrooms and showers). There will likely be one, maybe two food vendors, and campers will be on their own for ice and beverages.

  • What about food and beverages during the weekends?  Right now, we have one food vendor (crepes!!) who plans to be on site.  We are actively seeking another food truck (please let us know if you have a suggestion)!  Because we are requiring proof of vaccination, TABC refuses to issue us an alcohol permit, so this will be a “bring your own alcohol” event.  Kerrtry Store will not be open, so campers will also need to provide their own coffee and soft drinks.  We will have two water bottle fill stations supplying filtered water and some bottled water available to purchase in the Foundation Booth.

  • I tried to buy a ticket for Saturday, Oct. 2nd and was unable to do so.  Are they all sold out?   Almost. We turned off all ticket sales for 11-day tickets and for first weekend because we are so very close to the cap already.   When the plans were modified, we wanted to get this information out first, and then we will resume sales, subject to availability.  Because we know we will sell out we will send out a notice at least 24 hours in advance of opening sales for the few remaining tickets for first weekend dates.
