Do you have a guitar gathering dust in your closet that’s been there for years? Meanwhile, when you’re at a concert, you watch the artists longingly wishing you could play too? This is a workshop where you can finally get started on your journey, even if you think you can’t because you’re too old, too busy, or don’t have a musical bone in your body. Plus, get out of the Texas heat for a bit while you do it (our classroom is air conditioned!).
I’ve been teaching people of all ages music since the 1980s and know that the only thing that needs to be true in order to learn how to play music is that you want to. Join me for this workshop and by the end you’ll be able to:
- Play 3 chords
- Play a strumming pattern
- Play a song, slowly but surely
Your tuition includes the time in the workshop and related learning materials, lifetime access to 6 weeks of video guitar lessons (a $97 value), and a follow up live class on Zoom so we can review the workshop material plus answer all of your questions, including the ones you think are dumb (they’re not).

Place: KFF Foundation Classroom (back of the barn on the north end of the parking meadow)
Bring: A guitar and flat pick (arrive at 9:45 am and I’ll tune your guitar for you)
Janet Feld is an award-winning performing songwriter, appearing at folk festivals and coffeehouses from coast to coast throughout a nearly four-decade career. She has recorded 6 albums including her newly released Kerrville Covers, a tribute to a few of her dear friends, and the songs they’ve played at The Kerrville Folk Festival. Janet has been teaching music classes and private lessons to people of all ages since the 1980s. Since 2000, she’s been teaching guitar and songwriting at The Passim School of Music and is the Founder and Chief Music Officer at Janet’s Planet: Music Lessons for Humanoids. Janet also published her first book for music teachers, Practicing Safe Music – Create an emotionally safe and magical experience for your music students, while rocking your self care. Janet has opened for Cheryl Wheeler, John Gorka, Chris Smither, Dar Williams, Greg Greenway, Tom Kimmel, and Jon Ims.
