This interactive workshop helps songwriters, performers and others who are faced with the tricky legal issues that arise in the music industry. From intellectual property issues like copyright and trademark, to publishing and recording contract issues to those involving public performances and “work for hire”, the workshop is intended to give participants the information they need to help not only answer the tough questions, but also to know what questions to ask.

The format is intended to be a two-way conversation, with participants strongly encouraged to participate, ask questions and share their experiences.

Ed Cavazos is a practicing intellectual property lawyer and an adjunct professor at the UT School of Law in Austin.
