We’re deeply saddened to share that our friend and longtime Kerrville Folk Festival community member, Dr. JP “Jalapeño” Schwartz, passed away on April 14.
JP was a dedicated physician, a talented musician, and a loyal, fiercely funny friend. Known for his sharp wit, impish grin, and unwavering support for the Kerrville tribe, he brought both laughter and care to those around him. Whether trading stories at Camp NashBill, driving hours just to be back at the festival, or sharing a quiet moment under the stars—JP showed up with heart, humor, and generosity.
In lieu of flowers, JP’s family has asked that donations be made in his honor to the Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation—a place and a community he loved deeply.
We’re grateful for all the memories. He will be missed.
